Project

Sluiskiltunnel, The Netherlands

In 2015, the Sluiskil Tunnel was opened: a new connection between the Westerschelde Tunnel and the Tractaatweg of the N62 was realised. The road goes under the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal and provides an alternative to the bridge. Molenaar Betonindustrie supplied many MoClip Trios for the precast elements.

The Sluiskil Tunnel was drilled by Heijmans, while the precast elements were produced by Max Bögl. We became involved in the project thanks to our good connections with Weys and Frytagg. In the German factory, Max Bögl prepared everything, equipped with our MoClip Trios. The spacers we developed for the Westerschelde Tunnel were also used here. The tunnel was drilled using a TBM and installed ring by ring, in the same way as the Wienerwald Tunnel. Heijmans ordered many MoRibs for the entrance and exit, and CBK concrete cones for the walls. A large quantity of concrete wire spacers were also used. In this way, we made an important and diverse contribution to the Sluiskil Tunnel.

The project began in 2011, and on 9 May 2015, the Sluiskil Tunnel was opened by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.
